Softening Cracked Heels through Ayurveda Herbal remedies
Cracked heels are one of the most common cosmetic problems caused by drying of the skin. The desire to wear attractive foot wear will remain just that with cracked heels. Cracked heels are also known as heel fissures. When these fissures are deep they may bleed and become painful. Sometimes, they can also be infected.
Ayurveda classifies cracked heels in "kshudra Rogas (complecations common diseases without much) and explains the causes and remedies for cracked heels.
The cracks or fissures usually appear on the outer edges of heels when the skin of these parts is dry and thick.
What causes cracked heels?
According to ayurveda heel cracked defect is caused by Vata. Due to the vice of vata the skin becomes dry, rough and cracked.
Walking barefoot for long distances vitiates vata causing heels cracked.
Dry and cold weather increases vata time in the body and can cause cracks in the heels. The same weather conditions worsen and cracks or fissures present on the heels.
In general, the process of sweating keeps our skin moist and soft. The absence of inactive sweat glands cause dryness of the skin. Vitiated vata dries up sweat glands.
People with dry skin tend to develop cracked heels easily.
Continued pressure on feet causes cracking in the heels. This may be standing for too long or over weight.
Thin-soled shoes, Open shoes moved backward, heel spurs, Surgery of lower extremities, flat feet, high arched feet and diseases such as psoriasis, eczema, etc. Also cause heel cracks.
Self care for cracked heels
Avoid thin soled shoes or shoes and open back.
Use bars pumice stone to remove thick, dead skin from heels.
Apply medicated herbal balm which keeps the skin soft heels and closed cracks.
application of herbal lotion Liberal hydration keeps your feet soft and attractive.
The skin of feet lacks oil glands. Therefore apply moisturizer herbal before going to bed and put cotton socks. This suggestion helps to maintain the softness of the skin of the heels.
Reduce body weight and do not stay for long.
Never cut hard edges of fissures with blade, scissors or a knife.
Diabetic patients should consult their doctor immediately if the fissures persist for a long time and changes of color.
A regular foot bath and foot massage helps keep healthy skin healthy and smooth.
