Cleaning an aquarium?
I have one gallon tank 10 with five full grown guppies and mollies and 5 very small fry. I do not care not my filter because of the FRY and my car got dirty pretty fast (and yes I do water changes) I want to clean everything on, but I'm not sure the best way to do it. How much water is present in the tank must be handed in after I clean it? Is that stress the fish too (I have a guppy Prego very)? What size container should I put my fish while I clean it? Please please let me know what you think or what you suggest. Water seems to just test all this trouble and dirty find. I get snails, shrimp or anything else for my tank? If thank you for the answers. I live plants and use my filter. But I only use my filter a few hours day. You are right the fry are good swimmers but exhausted from swimming so vigorously for so long. If I should not clean the tank together; What is the change as much water as I do now?
Get Ziploc or container or baggy, pick each fish individually and leave them in their while you clean the tank. They are beautiful, they are guppies and can survive in a puddle of water. So what I would do is Dump out all water, but note the temperature because you want the new water at the same temperature so they do not become too panicked. Rinse the tank thoroughly and repeatedly. Scrub the tank with a clean sponge. You do not want to use chemical solutions inside, because it will not be good for fish. Which leads me to a good point, if you ever want to clean the outside of the tank, you can use just your average glass cleaner, again make sure you clean the outside of the glass. So I suggest you use distilled water to fill the tank, replace all the water, you want everything new. But then you take the baggies with fish and water and put in the tank, still in their bags. In this way, they get used to the new water temperature. Let them swim in the bag or tank for no more than 40 minutes, but at least 20, or about half an hour is a safe bet. then open the bags and left in the tank. If you want mixed bag of old water tank in the news, you can. If you want to move the fish through a network, you can also do. It does not matter much and is your call. Snails and shrimp are a good idea because they clean the dirt in the tank.
